I have to confess that I don’t really know what a nog is and it sure isn’t something that sounds like it needs to include some eggs. However, in my quest to try new things I decided to risk it and do some trying of the nog (the egg kind, not the sausage kind – what? you have never heard of sausage nog – it’s the latest thing).
Ever tried things that you aren’t sure if you really like or not? Egg nog is now one of those things for me. It’s thick ….really think. It basically tastes nothing like eggs, has a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg and a very strong (like knock you on your ace strong) liquor flavor. I only drank one glass of it and was so loopy that I was glad the neighbors couldn’t see the dancing I was doing around the Christmas tree. Actually I had to ask Derek later on if the neighbors could see the dancing that I was doing, because at the time I really couldn’t have cared less who saw the dancing. Wait …. maybe I need to move egg nog into the “oh hells yeah … we likey this stuff!” category.
What are your feelings on nog (the egg kind … not the sausage kind)?
I find it interesting that you are the age that you are (and no I won’t give that number up to your loyal readers) and this is the first time you have tried egg nog. It was a holiday staple in my house growing up. We would dilute it half and half with milk though so it wasn’t so rich.
Of course as an adult we dilute it half and half with rum so we don’t care how rich it is.
I have lead a very sheltered life. baaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha
I enjoy egg nog, but I grew up making my own with fresh milk and eggs, so the stuff in the grocery store tastes a bit “chemical-y” to me. I usually add just a little to milk for my holiday latte this time of year.
And now, confession time…I’ve never tasted alcoholic egg nog. Let me put that on my bucket list right now.

I may just have to take you up on that. And lets just say that the only way I’d dance period, is if I were a bit looped on Egg Nog.
I love eggnog but I don’t drink it with liquor just regular ole nog from the dairy section. I wait all year long for this season and then do my best not to drink my weight in it!
