Reading through the Young House Love book and scrolling through their projects on their site has inspired me to want to redo our kitchen and laundry room. Derek is so excited. He shows it by cursing, rolling his eyes, and sighing every time I bust out the paint chips and ask him his opinion, which we all know doesn’t really matter much.
We can’t afford a major kitchen remodel, but we can probably afford to change the flooring (we HATE HATE HATE the floor we have now), change the backsplash, repaint the cabinets, find window covering not made of foil, and completely repaint the laundry room next to the kitchen (the room with the crazy ass sunflower wallpaper in it). Any suggestions ???
Our remodeling style probably won’t be as cute as theirs: we aren’t young (one of us is a little over 40 and the other one … well let’s not talk about it) and we’ve been married for nearly 21 years, so the romantic stuff doesn’t happen quite as often, although he does help me figure out how to get the wine out of the box …. I’ll take it.
OK I have to ask…why have you got tin foil over your window??? Ive tried to think of a reason – other than to prevent your thoughts being read from outer space- and failed miserably

Foil is a white trash/ redneck window treatment for lazy people. It blocks out the heat and the light, without having to buy those pesky curtains.
I prefer that there not be anything on that window, other than the stained glass hanging in front of it, but Derek had other ideas.
Finding some sort of window treatment for that window and the ones in the dining room (also covered in foil) is on our long list of projects.

Im with you, Id rather have nothing, you have a really nice sized kitchen, but Im guessing it looks a little dark with foil… of course its handy in case there IS an alien invasion
