Enjoying the Misery

I’ve come to the conclusion that there are people on this planet who actually enjoy being miserable.  That’s the only way that I can explain it.  It’s almost like they aren’t happy unless they are sad or mad or upset.  I don’t get it …. but I do want to get away from them.

It turns into a contest with them of “nobody’s life is more miserable than mine” and then you don’t know if you’re supposed to agree with them or argue with them.  Do you look them right in the face, nod your head, and say “yep … sucks to be you”?

I’ve tried ignoring it.  It isn’t working.

I tried being kind hoping that my kindness would rub off.  It didn’t.

I’ve tried talking to them.  They didn’t think that they were the problem.

My only solution is to run.

It isn’t my job to fix other people’s lives, but I can keep their pissy attitudes from affecting my life.

P.S.  By the way, I am not talking about anyone that I live with.  :)

My best friend’s sister is like this. We always say that she “has to have the worst headache than anyone else.” ;) I also used to work with a girl that was only happy at work if there was drama going on. They fired her. You can’t fix them, Slappy. All you can do is limit your contact. Also…I’m glad you’re not talking about anyone you live with. :)

What shocks me is how they don’t see it …. even when you try to calmly explain it to them. They refuse to see that they are the problem and just can’t understand why people don’t want to be around them.

I have a friend like this. He is bad for my anxiety. I was talking with a mutual friend who said that this guy “stores up little insults so he can cherish them later,” and that shit is totally true. I don’t understand the need to go about your life all righteously indignant.
