One of the consequences of my situation is having to have the words “VIOLENT OFFENDER” on the front of my driver’s license, plus I have to have it renewed every year instead of every five years like normal people.
I dread having to do it every time, mostly because some of the people who work at tag agencies instantly judge me based on those words and treat me like crap while I’m there. It happens when I have to show my license when using my credit card or writing a check too. I want to tell them my story and make them believe that I’m not a bad person, but it really wouldn’t matter anyway.
I went to school with the lady who owns the tag agency in the small town where I live, so I called there yesterday and asked if I could renew my license early (even though it’s a “special” license). The lady I know wasn’t there, but the young lady working answered my questions and was so nice to me.
She even came in early this morning to do my license for me. It took five minutes and she was kind the entire time. In fact, she told me that her husband had been accused in a similar situation and she completely understand what I was going through.
I’m seriously considering sending her flowers to thank her for her kindness.

I am so glad that you found this nice young lady. She sounds like a good person. I would at least make a point of calling her boss/supervisor and telling them how wonderful she is.
