A Little Bit of Hope

I can’t say much about the whole situation yet, but not saying anything might cause me to explode.  So I’m going to say a little.

Most of you know my desire to work in the field of drug and alcohol addiction prevention and treatment.  With my own experiences (and the constant learning curve that goes with them) I think I could be really good at it. 

A few months ago I joined a local committee that is organized through a non-profit organization in the city where I work.  The committee is focused on bringing attention to the problems of prescription drug sharing, theft, storage, disposal, and addiction.  I really enjoying working with the group.

A member of the group works on the local military base as the program director for the drug and alcohol addiction prevention program.  I sent him an e-mail.

We had a lovely exchange back and forth about my goals, what his department does, and how I could work towards a career in that area.

After several e-mails back and forth, he invited me to start volunteering with their group. 

It’s a small step in the right direction!
